DIVISION 6 | The Week in Consequence, Issue #1
Let’s get the controversial part out of the way: Division 6 runs on AI. Not a little. A lot.
Agents test the site, review it, and ship patches on a schedule. AI helps us research, draft, and double-check every claim we publish, including the ones in this email. We don’t hide it, and we won’t start.
Some of you will unsubscribe over that. We respect the choice. We just think it costs more than most people realize.
The shovel and the tractor
One of our own put it best: smart people just got a massive upgrade in life. They went from a shovel to a tractor.
We remember spending hours, sometimes days, learning to build a website or get an app to work. Today those same tasks take minutes. For the price of a monthly subscription, you get something close to an entire engineering team in the palm of your hand. You still have to drive the tractor. But the digging is no longer the hard part.
That advantage compounds. The people learning these tools now are building a head start that widens every month. The people refusing aren’t stopping the technology. They’re only holding themselves back.
(For the record, Division 6 fully embraces SkyNet. Kidding. Mostly.)
What we do with the time
The point was never to spend more time at a computer. It was to spend less. The hours AI gives back go to real life, and to the one part of this work that still needs a human: judgment. That means deciding what matters, what’s true, and what it means for you.
Why this matters to you
Our goal is simple. Give the public as much information as possible, so better decisions can be made. AI is how a small team does that at a scale that once took a newsroom.
